Why I am switching to authentic reborn kits only? It's Not what you think.

I wanted to talk about replicas and authentic reborns. Not to criticize or put anyone down. I am not that kind of person and I am in the same boat as you living on very low income. But I want to talk about the differences between the two. Kits and finished baby dolls. Please don't get me wrong, I know we all would love an authentic baby doll and most of us really can't afford one. We sttle because we know that electric bill is more important. Most of us have monthly bills and food to buy, we need a roof over our head and besides those there are the unexpected expenses that always pop up, so spending this much money on a baby doll is literally out of the question.
I only recently found out that I can buy kits on authentic websites like: mcpherson, irressistibles, bountiful baby, and dolls by sandy. However, only irressistibles and mcpherson allows you to buy the doll kit on layaway and pay over 3 months.
That is totally doable for me, so I decided to have only authentic babies in my nursery. Yes, I do understand that Not everyone can paint their own kits, and root them too. I am blessed and can do that, but I also want my dollie sisters to have authentic babies and encourage you to slowly switch, to find artists who are willing to take payments until you pay that baby off and can truly enjoy a realistic baby. I am going to take payments, you can take as much as 6 months to pay for your doll. I know it is not easy and I have plenty of compassion in my heart.
Anyway, I want to show you what I've discovered after getting the authentic kit, and why I've decided to buy only authentic now.
I don't want second best any more. The replicas are copies of copies, of copies and they are not as pretty as the authentic babies and sadly, that is the fact.
I didn't know better in the beginning, when I just found this hobby a couple of years ago, Well, wait, no, just a couple of months after I moved to IL, when covid shut downs started, so it was June of 2020?, so my mom wanted to get her great grand babies something very unique to remember her by, something they can not buy in the store. We were searching for very realistic baby dolls, but when we saw reborns we both said Oh My gosh we can not afford this. So I (being an artist my entire life) said: "Mom I can do this", so I found out more or less what I need and my mom got all the supplies I needed, including the nuwave oven to cure the paint.
I had no idea where to buy the kits, and no one shared where to buy authentic kits, so I bought my first kits on aliexpress, and as I progressed in this hobby, made more friends, I made some great connections and I found a lot of the secrets the sculptors and artists keep to themselves.
I bought a few kits from mcpherson and irresistibles when I got my last stimulus check. I bought my Anna by Ivetta Eckertova because that baby is a carbon copy of my first born son, Daniel. Then on ebay around March 2023 I found Maizie by Andrea Arcello in the UK, and I got her for a very good price, there are no replicas of Maizie, so I know she is authentic and she is gorgeous.
I bought Noah Awake by Reva Schick and I also paid off my authentic reborn Ariana kit in December 2023, now I am paying for Tatiana and she will be home beginning of February 2024
Yay! I want these two girls to be twins in my nursery. I will also paint them at the same time so they really have the same skin tones, veining and mottling, and blushing, the exact same way. So they really look like twins.
Why did I decide to buy authentic Ariana, when I already had my beautiful Chloe? I love Chloe, I really do, it took me a really long time to make such a big baby girl, and the rooting took forever, a lot of hours of very painful, stiff hands, getting jabbed with the toothy needle is no picnic either, but I was so curious if there are any differences between authentic and aliexpress ariana, and believe me, there are plenty.
Authentic Arianas head is bigger, her arms and legs are chunkier and her hands are bigger, her eyes are nicer, and her lips are open a lot more- so she can take a modified paci. When I saw that.
I also saw a noah awake on amazon and that doll looks like noah but also has differences. The mouth is not open as much as the authentic Noah and the fingers and toes are a little croocked. I really decided to commit to buying only authentic kits, even if it takes me a few months. It is so worth it.
It is only your decision and you have to do what you are able to do. I will never take the joy away from dolly sisters who can not afford more than $80 for a dollie, you still deserve to have a baby to hold and love, but just please know that I will do payments. I will have more babies this year.
Notice the differences. The painted baby is a replica, look at the deformed eyes, the nose and mouth are smaller and different. The blank kit will make a much more beautiful baby girl.
